Makita Canada Inc. currently has a vacancy in Whitby, Ontario for a Product Management Assistant   

Job Description:

Reporting directly to the Product Manager, the Product Management Assistant is responsible for assisting with product planning and execution throughout the product lifecycle, including: prioritizing between current products and new product development, continually gathering and defining end user requirements as related to new product development, defining the product vision and strategy, and working cross-functionally with R&D, sales, operations, marketing, purchasing and customer service to ensure company goals are achieved. 

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Assist Product Manager to define product strategy and roadmap
  • Assist with market research, competitive product testing and pricing analysis
  • Show the ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority
  • Support sales with a variety of requests such as product training, sales presentations, product line reviews, etc.
  • Help to launch new products and sales programs to sales team
  • Assist in development of marketing communication materials and sales tools  
  • Prioritize between projects on various topics
  • Understand market trends and competitive landscapes  
  • Act independently without constant supervision

Skill Requirements:

  • 2+ years of experience within the power tool industry or related field
  • A solid understanding of the retail environment and consumers buying habits
  • Post-secondary (university or college) degree (marketing, business or building trades preferred)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Photoshop
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be able and willing to travel domestically and/or internationally approximately 10% of the time
  • Valid G Class Drivers License (Driver’s abstract to be provided)
